connection reactivating recovery

I have a problem were every few days my client starts complaining about connection reactivating to the server, and communications seems to stop. What can I do to discover the circumstances which cause this to occur?

Do you have a URL pointing to a top level bit of documentation on how to get started using the trace facility? The SDK online documentation seems to be pretty empty.
