History for string variables

Postby apittier » 03 May 2019, 16:47

Hello Support Team,

I'm trying to set up historian support for a String variable using the SDK FileLogger (as explained in Lesson 7: http://documentation.unified-automation.com/uasdkc/1.8.3/html/gettingstarted7.html )

However, in the generated txt file I'm getting: "0x000c Unsupported DataType"

So wanted to confirm if this is the expected behavior. I mean, no string values can be historized with the FileLogger? Is there a suggested workaround?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

the FileLogger-Example is a very simple example to just demonstrate the principals of historizing data. Of course you can historize string values, you just need to program it yourself. The example gives the "gudiance" to a solution, but of course is not ready to use solution.
