Connecting DA Server and UaGateway running on different machines

Post by nish1502 »

Hello UA Support Team,

I am not able to connect DA Server (Prosys 1.0A and 2.05 communication) and UaGateway running on different machines. If both are running on same machine they are connecting. Is there a way to connect a DA Server and UaGateway running on different machines ?

From the How to videos it looks like this depends on DOCOM Configuration settings. If both machines are configured to have DCOM permissions then will it work ? Does UaGateway support this ?

Best Regards,

Hi,

no, the UaGateway MUST have local connection to underlying DA Server, this will avoid any DCOM configuration (and any hassle regarding DCOM Hardening Patch form Microsoft).

Therefore the answer is no, remote DCOM connections are NOT supported, you must install the UaGateway on the same PC with the "classic" COM based OPC DA (this also applies for the client-side, in case you hace old DA client). Over the wire you must use the OPC UA (which is secured, encrypted, authenticated). That is the only configuration that makes any sense, hence the only operation scenario supported.
