OPC UA server and client time

Post by deepakkumbhar79 »

Hello Support team,

Does OPC UA server and OPC UA client date and time should be same ?

We have OPC UA server which connect to third party OPC UA client only if their date and time are the same ??

Is it the case ??

Hi,

how are you going to check the application's x509 certificate crosswise for expiry, if the date/time is not accurate?

In OPC UA (on the wire) all date time is UTC, therefore it does not matter in which local timezone you are. However, it is assumed (and a requirement) that client and server have correct date/time.

Hint: most devices have a NTP synced clock.
